Strøm Festival 2023 electrifies your late summer: This year, the festival takes place on August 31st to September 3rd – all over the capital.

From concerts in metro trains and parks to parties on rooftops and in theaters: Since 2006, Strøm Festival has taken the electronic music from the underground dance floors and nightclubs and moved it into the urban landscapes. Over the years, concerts, parties, and events have taken place in everything from churches, bell towers and power plants to swimming pools and underground water reservoirs.

Strøm will move into new spaces and buildings this year, too: From the Glyptotek’s winter garden and rooftop terrace to the raw and vibrant venue Odds and Ends at Tunnelfabrikken in the industrial Nordhavn area.

Strøm moves dynamically through the cityscape while also spanning the entire spectrum of genres, allowing you to experience both the very first pioneers of Danish electronic music and the latest genre-hopping musical currents from South America.

“This year’s music program ranges from jungle to psytrance. It really covers the whole spectrum – but always with a focus on sublime sound and plenty of bass,” says Strøm’s new head of music, Simone Øster.

“I really enjoy when music cannot be confined to boxes, so I like to book musicians who have a fluid approach to genres and styles, such as blending elements of dubstep with techno or electro with dembow rhythms. These events won’t be neatly categorized when it comes to genres – and the crowd they attract. It’s so much more exciting when things are mixed up,” she adds.

One of the festival’s beloved classics (and a fully packed audience favorite) is also returning this year: Trans Metro Express. Four Danish electronic musicians compose music for the metro routes between Vanløse-Vestamager and Vanløse-Copenhagen Airport and perform the music live on the moving metro train, filled to the brim with an up-for-it party crowd. For the first time ever, party passengers can jump directly from the party train to an after-party by the Vanløse metro station – at ALICE on Stairway.

Many more details and surprises from this year’s program will be revealed gradually on strm.dk as well as on Facebook and Instagram throughout July and August.
