VINTAGE SOUND LAB & SONIC HERITAGE
1714 COPENHAGEN V
ELECTRONIC MUSIC STUDIO RESIDENCY
A vintage sound lab and electronic music studio in Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District, created in collaboration with Danish electronic music pioneers Fuzzy and Gunner Møller Pedersen. As the home of Lydskatten, the studio functions as a living museum and archive for Danish electronic music history, activating sonic heritage through hands-on creation, deep listening, and experimental sound exploration.
The studio is based on the Lydskatten Collection, a growing archive of rare instruments, equipment, tapes, photos, and materials dating back to the 1950s. The collection includes acquisitions from Else Marie Pade, Gunner Møller Pedersen, and Fuzzy, as well as contributions from the Technical University of Denmark, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, and private donors.
The studio is designed for hands-on exploration and experimental work, featuring vintage filters and oscillator units, tape machines, delays, spring reverbs, rare Danish equipment from Lyrec, DR, DTU, and Brüel & Kjær, as well as a high-end Dynaudio monitoring setup and Rostec AD/DA converters. A complete inventory of the available equipment can be provided upon request.
CONDITIONS
Strøm is a non-profit initiative, meaning that the studio residency is offered free of charge, subject to the following conditions:
Respect: Please treat the studio, instruments, and equipment with care and respect.
Share: Provide a few photos, videos, and a brief mini-interview about your process or favourite piece of gear. This material may be published by Strøm.
Credit: If your residency results in a release, please credit Lydskatten and Strøm (@strmdk).
Donate: We invite you to contribute to our collective sound pool by leaving behind samples, sketches, or sounds created during your residency. These contributions will be cut onto vinyl records by Kommunal Dubplate Service and may eventually be shared online by Strøm as part of a non-profit community sound library for artists worldwide.
Log: Help us maintain our studios by reporting any technical issues. If an instrument or machine does not seem to be functioning properly, simply move on to another one and let us know.
