Strøm for Kids or Strøm til Børn is dedicated to ensuring that children and young people across Denmark have the opportunity to create their own music.
With more than 20,000 participants and 1,000 workshops and activities, Strøm for Kids has grown into a national platform that reimagines music education by combining modern technology and digital tools with hands-on sound experiments, such as building DIY instruments and exploring the sounds of the world around us through creative field recordings.
Our goal is not perfection, but participation, curiosity and the joy of creating – helping more children and young people discover that making music is something they can do themselves.
Alongside our workshops for children and young people, we also offer professional development workshops for music teachers, equipping them with creative tools and technologies to bring new approaches to music education into the classroom.

WHO ARE WE?
Jens Ramon
Jens is a composer, producer and musician, and a graduate of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. He has worked professionally with music for more than 20 years and has produced and composed both his own and other artists’ music, released internationally. As a performing musician, he has played numerous concerts and contributed to music and sound art projects in both Denmark and abroad. He is currently project leader of Strøm for Kids, where he combines his extensive experience with a passion for making music production and electronic music accessible to children through creative, curious and inclusive teaching.
Johan Wieth
Johan is a composer, musician and graduate of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. He has toured extensively worldwide with his band Iceage, who have released a number of critically acclaimed albums, and has been highlighted by Rolling Stone as one of the most notable guitarists of a new generation. Alongside his work with Iceage, he teaches and works on a range of solo projects as a musician and electronic composer.
Benedicte Pierleoni Nielsen
Bene is a drummer and graduate of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen (2024). She has played the drums since childhood and now works both as a teacher and performing musician in a variety of musical projects such as Baby in Vain, Katinka and Kryd. She also writes and produces her own music under the artist name Friends With Bene, where curiosity, play and creative exploration are central elements of her practice.
Andreas Murga
Andreas is a musician, songwriter and producer, and a graduate of the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen (2019). He has toured both in Denmark and internationally with a wide range of artists, and has written and produced music for artists including Lord Siva, Hans Philip and Gorgeous. His work is driven by a focus on creative freedom in music and the possibilities that arise through experimentation and curiosity.
Alma Justesen
Alma is a songwriter, producer and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in songwriting from the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. She is currently working on her debut EP, on which she both sings and produces. Her music explores dreamlike soundscapes, immediate production techniques and an interest in creating moods and distinctive musical worlds.
ABOUT
A BALANCED APPROACH TO TECHNOLOGY
Through more than 15 years of working with children and young people, Strøm for Kids has seen how music technology can open up new possibilities for creativity in music education. At the same time, we believe in maintaining a healthy balance between digital tools and hands-on learning.
Our workshops bring the digital and the physical together.
Children build their own sound sculptures from recycled materials, experiment with contact microphones and record sounds on iPads. Technology becomes an extension of the creative process rather than an end in itself.

- Empower children through creative music-making using electronic instruments and music technology.
- Equip teachers with inspiration and practical methods for integrating technology into music education.
- Support music education in Danish primary schools, where the subject faces significant challenges, including a shortage of qualified music teachers.

BUILDING STRONGER CLASSROOM COMMUNITIES
At Strøm for Kids, we see music education as a creative community where every child has room to express themselves – both individually and together with others.
Through our workshops, children discover that there are no right or wrong answers, only different ways of listening, creating and expressing themselves. This nurtures curiosity, confidence and respect for different perspectives.
Our methods strengthen classroom communities. Teachers and pupils alike describe how the workshops encourage children to become more open-minded towards one another, fostering inclusion, collaboration and an appreciation of individual differences.
As one pupil put it: “Now I understand what making music means. It’s not about who’s good or bad. We’re just getting to know each other better.”

Strøm til Børn has given the pupils an exciting and motivating introduction to creating their own electronic music on iPads. The skilled instructors engage with the children on their own level and create a safe, fun and creative learning environment. They bring the whole package – both instructors and materials – which is a major advantage and ensures that the programme runs smoothly.
The music project has strengthened the sense of community within the class through a shared, unique and inclusive experience. New sides to the pupils have come to the fore, and talents other than academic and sporting ones have been given the chance to shine. The journey from process to production is short, which is highly motivating for the pupils.

Even before the visit, the headline ‘Strøm til Børn’ piqued my curiosity. The programme provided an opportunity for in-depth exploration and for working with music in a new and different way – something that regular music lessons do not always allow time and space for. This applied to both the pupils and me as their music teacher.
With the premise that nothing is wrong, the children bravely threw themselves into the electronic universe. Through praise and recognition, the pupils worked with focus towards their goal in a positive and different way. This programme is definitely something I can actively incorporate into my future planning of music lessons for Years 1 to 6.

‘Strøm til Børn’ is a fantastic programme – a different but very engaging course. It’s rare to meet adults who interact with children with such openness and respect as the instructors did. This meant that all the children had a really great, creative musical experience, where all their ideas and preferences were valued and turned into something the children themselves thought was really cool. On top of that, everyone learnt some practical skills in the music programme, and as a class we had a really great shared experience.
It was three really great days, during which the children were fully focused throughout the whole programme! They loved the creative process and could easily have spent even more time on it. It was a brilliant experience for the children to discover that they could actually produce something that sounded like ‘real music’ and that actually sounded good.
