LYDSKATTEN
PRESERVING, SHARING AND ACTIVATING THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF DANISH ELECTRONIC MUSIC
Lydskatten (‘the Sound Treasure’) is a rich collection of music, photos, recordings, film, instruments, equipment, notes, and all kinds of documentation of a vibrant music culture dating all the way back to the 1950s.
As electronic musicians, we see this material as a testimony of our forerunners, from where we can learn about the methods they used, the challenges they met and the ideals that drove them to keep exploring new fields of sound to express their presence in a fast developing technological world.
The vision of Lydskatten is to create a physical center and meeting place where everyone has free and full access to this vast treasure of music, digitised works, and rare machines – so that they are not only preserved for the future, but also utilised and activated.
