A vital force in Danish experimental electronic music, Sofus Forsberg, has passed on to the next dimension.
We’re saddened by the news that electronic music legend Sofus Forsberg has passed away. We want to emphasize the influence and great impact he had on the electronic music community, spanning more than three decades. His work will live on for many years to come, and hopefully continue to inspire scholars, geeks, freaks and connoisseurs.
As a musician, Sofus first appeared as part of the Rap-Metal band, Impotators, releasing their debut album in 1995. Around 2000 Sofus found interest in the possibilities within electronic music, began producing and remixing, and soon after released his debut album NO/1.
Sofus became a student of electronic music at DIEM in Aarhus, and later taught there and at RMC, Sonic College and other institutions. Outside of the educational programs, Sofus worked as a recording and performing artist known for his technical abilities and his gear collection, releasing on labels such as Jenka, Rump, Mindwaves and Touched, plus working as a mastering engineer for many projects, both locally and internationally.
Most of all, Sofus was known to many as a super optimistic and always helpful person. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
